Come Dance With Us

Imagine a performing arts program that built Jewish girls and women as people first. A program where girls and women found their place to truly fit in and share the vulnerabilities and strengths that make them who they really are. A performing arts program that taught not just technique, but communication and teamwork skills that women and girls would translate into better marriages, better parenting, and greater success at school and at work. Imagine a performing arts program that developed true creativity, original thinking, and self-expression built on confidence from deep inside. Imagine a performing arts program that felt like a family, the best kind of family, a family that nurtures and supports and plays.

This is Rachel Factor’s Jerusalem Center for Performing Arts.

Classes

Lyrical

Lyrical is a form of dance combining several styles including jazz, contemporary and ballet technique to express a meaningful story or relevant theme. This theme is often reflected in the lyrics of the song being danced to, but can sometimes use lyrics as a powerful contrast to convey a more nuanced concept in the performance as a whole.

In this class, a thorough warm-up is followed by working “across the floor” to practice moving steps, turns and leaps, culminating in a dance combination. The focus of the class is to develop self-confidence and expression while honing proper technique. For English and Hebrew speakers.

Ballet & Pointe

Classical ballet technique combined with healthy self-image can help girls and women develop poise, grace, and tznius. In this class, a complete ballet barre work-up is followed by center work, turns, and grand allegro across the floor.

The pointe program, practicing advanced and demanding technique, requires attendance at a minimum of two technique classes per week to be considered for entrance. Following this requirement, pointe students are accepted at the discretion of the teacher. For English and Hebrew speakers. For English and Hebrew speakers.

Drama

This is a class focused on building self-awareness, communication and teamwork skills, bringing out the best in each girl. Students learn to create their own original stories and write their own scripts based on personally meaningful topics while developing realism and truthfulness in acting.

The class covers basic vocal technique, drama games, cold readings, monologues, acting improvisation and performance techniques. The year will culminate in a complete video production as well as a live performance. For English speakers.

Gymnastics

Give high-energy girls a chance to shine! This class provides a unique blend of gymnastics and dance skills focusing both on athleticism and grace. Girls of all ages are delighted to discover abilities they never knew they had.

Beginning with a dynamic warm-up, classes build strength, balance, and flexibility through an array of gymnastic and acrobatic exercises. Students develop a sense of competence and self-discipline in a supportive and super positive environment. For English and Hebrew speakers.
